I am committed to working with clients and consumers to develop insightful solutions to managing complex health problems, whether at national policy level, or inside the consult room. I enjoy working with diverse groups of people and organisations in service planning and clinical redesign to effect change in service delivery to ensure equitable access to healthcare for all Australians. Aside from consultancy, I practice as a GP to maintain skills and to continue to understand the paradigms of GPs.

Vlad has some 30 years’ experience in health services across the public and private sectors at national, state, and local levels, in clinical and leadership roles. Throughout his working life, Vlad has actively championed the cause of improved health outcomes for rural and remote populations, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Vlad holds an MBBS with the University of Sydney and completed a Master of Business Management with the University of Adelaide in 2016, in addition to holding Fellowships of both RACGP and ACRRM. Prior to predominantly moving into medical management consultancy in 2017, Vlad practiced as a remote, rural and regional GP / VMO, with several leadership roles in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Services sector as the Director of Medical Services. Additionally, Vlad has nearly three decades of involvement with the boards of local, state and national health organisations and has served on numerous Commonwealth advisory committees.

Vlad’s highly regarded skillset includes logical thinking, restructuring organisations, delivering economic efficiencies and benefits, and reviewing, designing, implementing, and evaluating models of care. His approach is human centred, with a unique ability to engage diverse groups of stakeholders, discerning the potential in people and organisations, and ensuring a strategic approach to overcoming the complexities of health landscapes.

Vlad believes in optimising culture, safety and quality in healthcare; as evidenced with his practice in Walgett, NSW receiving the 2009 RACGP NSW/ACT and National General Practice of the Year awards.

What you won’t learn from my bio

I have cycled from Cairns to Cooktown twice to raise funds for a the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation, as well as participating in multiple other charity cycling events.
